Delete your SKWAD.community account

Last updated: October 19, 2026

You can delete your SKWAD.community account at any time. Here's how, and what happens to your data.

In the app

  1. Open the SKWAD.community app and go to Profile › Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  3. Tap Delete my account, then confirm.

That's it. You're signed out on every device, and this can't be undone.

Without the app

The quickest way is still the app: reinstall it, sign in with your email, and use Profile › Settings › Delete account. Signing in proves the account is yours.

If you can't use the app, email support@skwad.community with the subject "Delete my account". Write from the email address you sign in with, and include your @username if you remember it. We don't store email addresses, so we find your account by comparing a fingerprint of the address you wrote from with our records.

We confirm before we delete anything. Once we've found the account, we'll send a separate email to that address asking you to confirm, and we delete the account only after you reply from that inbox. That way nobody can delete your account by pretending to be you. Deleting this way erases your personal data the same way as deleting in the app.

We'll handle your request within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

What happens when you delete

Straight away:

  • Your account leaves SKWAD.community. Nobody can find you, invite you or see your profile.
  • Your @username is retired, so nobody else can take it and pretend to be you.
  • You're signed out everywhere, and any invite codes you hadn't used yet stop working.

Erased straight away:

  • The fingerprint of your email address (and of your phone number, if you used one): the scrambled code we use to recognise your account. We never stored the address itself. You can sign up again with the same email later if you want.
  • Your display name
  • Your location, including your zip code
  • Your push token
  • Your favourite activities and write-ins
  • Our event log about how you used the app
  • Your friend QR code
  • Your notification inbox
  • Your past usernames
  • Any feedback you sent in the app
  • The friend groups you made, and your place in other people's groups

What stays, without your name on it:

  • Hangout history. Hangouts you hosted, and records of who joined and checked in, stay, because other members' history depends on them. They're linked only to an anonymous ID, never your name, email or @username.
  • Friendships and blocks stay as links between anonymous IDs. A deleted account can't be seen or found by anyone, and keeping blocks keeps people safe.
  • Safety records. Reports you filed or that were filed about you, and the actions our team took on them, are kept by account ID only, so we can keep the community safe.
  • If we banned the account for breaking our rules (for example spam or fraud), we keep only the fingerprint of its email address or phone number, so the same address can't be used to sign up again. A fingerprint can't be turned back into your address.
  • Anonymous counts. Our signup step counts (like "40 people reached the username step today") have no link to any person, so there's nothing in them to delete.

If your account is under a legal hold (for example, after a serious safety report, or because of a legal request), your account still leaves the app straight away, but we keep everything we hold about it until the hold is lifted, including any email address or phone number sealed when you signed in during the hold (see Legal holds). Then it's erased, and a sealed address is deleted.

Accounts involved in serious harm are never erased: anything that puts a child at risk, trafficking, prostitution or solicitation, sexual assault or rape, sexual harassment, abuse, or a threat to someone's life or safety. We keep them under a legal hold and report them to the authorities.

Backups: we keep nightly backup copies of our database for 30 days. Copies made before you deleted your account still contain your data until they're deleted automatically, at most 30 days later. We never restore a backup to bring a deleted account back.

Outside the app: deleting your account doesn't reach answers you sent through our Google Forms or emails you sent to support@. Email support@skwad.community and we'll delete those too.
